Obituary

Burl "Chip" Eakin, age 79, of Choctaw, departed this life on Saturday, April 17, 2021, in Clinton. He was born on December 22, 1941, in Center Valley, to Joseph Troy Eakin and Edna Roach Eakin Johnson.

Burl first and foremost loved our Lord Jesus and if he were here he would ask you if you knew his Savior, if not, to get your soul right with Jesus our Lord. He would want to meet each of you on the streets of gold.

Burl was a wonderful, caring and kind man. He loved his family deeply. He retired from Firestone where he worked hard for his family. After retiring, he became a great fisherman, having fish fry's for his church and his family. He has told me he prayed our Lord being a 'fisher of men' would find him big enough to keep. The family's prayer today would be that you come to know Jesus Christ as your Savior.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother; two brothers, Charles Blynn Eakin and VanRay Eakin; one son, Charles VanRay Eakin; and both sets of grandparents, Jeff and Nancy Roach and Andrew and Rebecca Eakin.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Kay Eakin of Choctaw; two sons, Billy Joe Eakin of Virginia and Jeffrey Scott May of Conway; four daughters, Candace Dilda, Angel Wells, Taffy Clark and Ronda Melendez; a brother, Coy "Lil" Eakin of Ohio; a sister, Betty Weir of Ohio; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A private service will be held in the Shinn Chapel, with Bro. Scott Warren officiating, with burial in Hudson Cemetery, and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
