Obituary

Carol Scott Tackett, age 87, of Russellville, decided it was time for a peaceful resting place on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Carol battled Alzheimer's disease and it robbed her later years of any decent quality of life. She was born April 18, 1938, in Filer, Idaho to Dale and Florene Scott.

Growing up in an apple orchard farm in Idaho mom and her siblings knew right from wrong, had steadfast integrity, and an unmatched work ethic. Her teen years were spent riding her horse and embracing western culture with posters of Roy Rogers and his horses decorating her walls. She loved the scent of the sage brush and the dusty rocky hills of southern Idaho. After high school graduation she moved to California to work and be near her sister. Mom met a handsome Navy sailor named Billie Wayne from Arkansas. They married in 1957 and had three children. Once retired from the Navy, the family moved to Arkansas, Bill's home state, settling in Russellville.

There was not anything Carol could not do. She made clothes for her children, she taught all her children to cook and bake, she grew vegetables, helped feed the rabbits, chickens, goats, horses, cats and dogs her children adopted. Mom always had a horse in the pasture. She enjoyed horse shows and trail riding. Mom attended national bowling tournaments and often scored perfect games. Another favorite past time of mom's was teaching her children and grandchildren how to play strategic card games. When a grandchild was ill it was at grandma's house where they were pampered with her homemade chicken and noodles and a cold Sprite. Her favorite color was orange, and one would be fully aware of this fact when they entered her home; dinnerware, storage containers, art, furniture, décor, bedding, even walls were painted orange.

Once in Arkansas mom looked forward to the summer drives to Idaho to spend with her siblings, nieces and nephews. She was devoted to her family and dearly loved her siblings, Della Ann of Filer, Idaho, Doug Scott of Buhl, Idaho, and her sister in Heaven, Mary Lou.

Mom will be missed by her children, Terry Tackett of Pottsville, (Laura), Kellie Tackett Danielson of Montana, (Jon Grubb), and Timothy Tackett, (Janet), of Dardanelle; grandchildren Tyler Tackett, (Alana Snyder), of Texas, Travis Tackett, (Morgan), of Pottsville, Tanner Tackett, (Mikayla), of Russellville, and Matthew Danielson of Bozeman, Montana; eight great-grandchildren will miss the opportunity for spoiling from their great- grandmother.

The family is grateful to the nurses and CNAs at Dardanelle Nursing Center who cared for mom with her debilitating disease.
