Obituary

Charles Calvin Riedel, age 87, of Dover, died Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville.  He was born February 28, 1935, in Dover to the late Henry A. Riedel and Mattie O. Eubanks Riedel.

Calvin was a graduate of Dover High School and attended business school in Little Rock.  He worked for American Foundation Life in Little Rock and met and married his wife of 53 years, Linda, in 1969.  Calvin and Linda moved to Russellville where he worked for the Atkins Pickle Company until they moved to their farm north of Dover.  Together, Calvin & Linda raised two children and operated a farm on the land on which Calvin was raised.  His passion was farming.  For over 40 years he raised pigs, chickens, and cattle at various times and sometimes all at once.  He also served as superintendent of the North New Hope Cemetery for over 40 years.  Calvin was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Russellville where he served as a deacon and treasurer for over 20 years.  Calvin and Linda were fixtures at the church.  His love of the Lord ran deep and was passed on to his children.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Walter Roberts (Sue) of Pottsville, whom he considered his brother.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; a son, John (Jessica) Riedel of Danville; a daughter, Rebecca (Jason) Sealock of Benton, Kentucky; grandchildren, Morgan and Braelyn Riedel of Danville, Jett Sealock of Benton, Kentucky, and Kelsey Edwards (Tyler) of Danville; great-grandson, Hudson Edwards of Danville; and a sister-in-law, Jane (Audie) Waterson of Austin.

The memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Steve Mosley officiating.  Burial will be private in North New Hope Cemetery and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
