Dorothy McVay, age 98, died Friday, August 19, 2022, at Stella Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Russellville. She was born January 19, 1924, in Bixby, Oklahoma, to Kellis Oliver and Ina Syrina Taylor Clay.

Dorothy was a longtime resident of Morrilton, where she managed Morrilton Drugstore. Following her retirement, she and her husband moved to Russellville to be near family. She attended First Christian Church of Russellville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James Edward Whorton; her first husband, E.H. Whorton; her husband of 49 years, Robert Doyle McVey; two sisters, Irene Price and Lillian Price; and two brothers, Virgil Clay and Arvel Clay.

Survivors include her grandson, James Whorton, Jr., and his wife Kathryn of Rochester, New York; her granddaughter, Julie Fleming, and her husband, John of Tampa, Florida; and great-grandchildren, Nora and Aster Whorton, and Hayley and Ethan Fleming. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Jane Whorton of Hideaway, Texas; her stepson, Gary McVay and his wife, Dottie of Tennessee; and her stepdaughter, Marilyn Curtis of Little Rock, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy's final years were spent happily at Stella Manor, where she enjoyed the care and comfort of its devoted staff, as well as the frequent visits and support of her nephew Don Price and his wife, Susan.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at the Shinn Chapel with Rev. Thom Walker officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time in the chapel.
