Obituary

Dorothy (Woods) Selby was born on November 30, 1920, in the Hickeytown community of Johnson County, and passed away peacefully in Clarksville, on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

When God called Dorothy home, she was a vibrant, social, and mobile, "young" 102 years of age.  She loved to spend time with family, play bingo, and card games.

Although the beginning and end of her life was lived in Arkansas, she spent the majority of her life establishing a home on Winslow Street in Crockett, California.  The Selby family was immersed in the community – her husband, Joe, worked at C&H Sugar, Dorothy volunteered at the Crockett Community Center, and all four children graduated from John Swett High School.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph "Joe" Selby; sons, Charles, Billy Joe and Lawrence; daughter, Dottie Knief; son-in-law Wayne Knief; and daughter-in-law, Leslie Selby.

She is survived by her brother, Bill Woods; daughters-in-law Rose Selby (Charles), Wanza Selby Heard (Billy Joe) and Lois Selby (Lawrence), all of Arkansas. Having outlived all her children, Dorothy was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren who loved her dearly.

A graveside service will be held Monday, March 6, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., at Skyview Memorial Lawn in Vallejo, California and officiated by Pastor Todd Bolton.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at Hedgeway Church in Lamar, officiated by Pastor Don Alexander.
