Obituary

Eddie Rogers, 82, of Russellville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 24, 2026. Born on April 11, 1943, in Fort Smith, he was the son of J.D. Rogers and Velma Marie Means Rogers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Danny Rogers; and his sister, Sharon Rogers.

Behind every sermon preached, every hospital visit made, and every soul counseled, stood the unwavering love and support of his devoted wife, Janet Rogers. For 62 years, she was his backbone, his encourager, and his steady companion in both ministry and life. Janet faithfully stood beside him through every church he pastored, every move, every challenge, and every triumph. She supported him not only as a pastor's wife but as his greatest champion — praying for him, uplifting him, and loving him with a quiet strength that never wavered. Their marriage was a testimony in itself: a partnership rooted in faith, sacrifice, laughter, and deep abiding love. The life he lived and the ministry he carried out were strengthened immeasurably by her devotion.

Brother Eddie dedicated his life to faith, family, and the faithful preaching of the Gospel. Answering the call to ministry at a young age, he prepared for his life's work by earning a Bachelor's degree from the Missionary Baptist Seminary in Little Rock. In 1969, he began his lifelong service as a Missionary Baptist pastor, committing himself fully to shepherding congregations across Arkansas.

Throughout his decades of ministry, he pastored Bayou Missionary Baptist Church in Augusta; Bethlehem in Clarendon; Faith Missionary Baptist Church in McCrory; Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Russellville, where he faithfully served for 35 years; and Bethany Missionary Baptist Church in Atkins. Wherever he served, he poured his heart into his calling. He was not only a pastor but a counselor, encourager, teacher, and friend. He loved the people he pastored and carried a deep burden to share the Gospel and see lives changed through Christ.

To his family, he was more than Brother Rogers — he was Papa. He loved his family deeply and treasured time spent with them. He is survived by his two sons and daughter-in-law, Steve and Tammy Rogers and Keith Rogers, all of Russellville.

He leaves behind seven grandchildren: Brittany and Jordan Tolliver of Hector; Austen Rogers of Russellville; Lakyn Rogers of Conway; Nathaniel and Johnanna Rogers of Kansas City, Missouri; and Nicholas, Kayla, and Kaci Rogers, all of Russellville.

He was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren who brought him immense pride and joy.

He is further survived by a special brother and sister-in-law, Kirk and Sherry Henderson; his aunt, Louise Tripp of Delta, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.

Brother Eddie will be remembered as a man of steady faith, gentle strength, and unwavering devotion to God. He lived what he preached. His life was a testimony of service, humility, and love. For over five decades, he stood behind pulpits proclaiming truth, comforting the grieving, encouraging the weary, and faithfully pointing others to Christ. His legacy lives on not only in his family, but in the countless lives he touched through his ministry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Mack Rogers, Jack Rogers, Jay Rogers, Fred Spainhour, Ron Fridell, Rustie Gunn, and Ed Jones.

The funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in the Shinn Chapel, with Brother Ken Worthen officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park, under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville. Following the services, friends will be received at the funeral home.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to the American Baptist Association Mission Fund, 4605 North State Line Avenue, Texarkana, Texas 75503-2916.

Though he has finished his earthly race, the seeds he planted through his preaching, his prayers, and his love will continue to bear fruit for generations to come.
