Edith "Edie"
Cantrell
Apr 4, 1933 — May 11, 2021
Dover
Edith "Edie" Cantrell, age 88, of White Hall, was called home to be with her Lord on May 11, 2021. She passed away peacefully at Stella Manor Nursing Home in Russellville, where she was cared for and loved by the wonderful staff, nurses, and CA's. She was born April 4, 1933, in Des Arc, to Chesley Madison and Opal Lee Long May.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lennie Lois Chivers (1998); her son, Gregory Lee Cantrell (2004); twin grandchildren, Gregory and Tiffany Cantrell; a sister, Louise Easley; and a brother, Curtis May.
Her children were the "apple of her eye".
She always let her family know how much she loved the people at Stella Manor, and that they loved her! The family sends a warm "thank you" to the Stella Manor Family.
Edith was a fun loving person, yet also feisty, sassy, strong-willed and very opinionated. She loved the Lord and "kept the faith". She was very gifted as an artist, painter, seamstress and loved writing poems.
Edith served and taught at Steele Bridge Baptist Church in Lonoke. She drew and painted the scene behind the Baptismal, and it was left up for several years, even after she moved from that area. She later became a member of The Family Church in White Hall where she continued to serve in various capacities.
One of her favorite loves was her animals! She was an animal lover and took in many strays and supported the local animal shelter. She once said, "I love animals more than people." They were a big comfort for her over the years.
A special "thank you" from the family to Edith's niece, Kathy (Ed) Mosley of White Hall for the many trips taken to SM to check in, caring for her and showering her with "goodies". We also want to thank Rhonda (Jeremy) Haston, of Clarksville, for opening their home to her prior to her moving into SM. She had many beloved family members.
Edith is survived by her brother, Troy (Melba) May of Greenbrier, Sherry (Harry) Hummel of AZ, Joe (Shannon) Chivers of Conway, Langston Cantrell and Ashley Cantrell Catlett (Tyler) of White Hall, great-grandchildren, Sonny (Mackenzie) Chivers of MN, Kylie, Darcy and Lydia of White Hall.
Her favorite saying was, "Everything's Going to be Alright"!
A private family conducted Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 6, 2021, with arrangements by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
Donations may be made to the Pine Bluff Animal Shelter, 901 N Harvey St. Pine Bluff AR, 71601.
