Faye Christene Gibson Abernathy, age 88, of Russellville, died Thursday, February 29, 2024, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born May 31, 1935, in Dover, to Samuel Marlin and Ollie Mae Hull Gibson.

Faye was very active in her community. She was a member of Russellville City Council, and First Baptist Church in Russellville, where she served in the Awana's program for many years and was active in her Sunday School class. She was a member of the Eastern Stars, and of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She worked for the Pope County Sheriff's Department, and retired from the Russellville School System, as a counselor for the Jr. High. She enjoyed her exercise class at the Pope County Senior Citizen Center, and her Dover High School lunch group.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Abernathy; a brother, James Gibson; and two sisters, Gladys Jeffries, and Yvonne Muncy.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindra and Russell Roberson, Belinda and Dave Ferguson; five grandchildren, Kyle (Olivia), Rhett, and Brayli Roberson, Jake (Natalie) and Luke (Madison) Ferguson; and five great-grandchildren, JT, Beau, and Remi Roberson, Grayson, and Isla Ferguson; several nieces and nephews; along with other relatives and friends.

A private graveside service will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park, under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
