George Lewis, age 68, of Russellville, died Wednesday, April 19, 2023, surrounded by family at his home. He was born October 29, 1954, in Ft. Hood, Texas, to Virgil Eugene and Hideko Linda Tamesue Lewis.

George used the advanced electronics training he received while serving in the United States Air Force to obtain employment at Entergy. He worked his way up to a position in an advanced engineering department, despite only having a high school diploma, and retired after 35 years.

He was lovingly known as "Poppa George" by all the children at Russellville Second Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Kimzey.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Lewis; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Amy Lewis, Jeremy Lewis and Josh and Jessica Lewis; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Vista Lewis; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bobby Debnam; three brothers-in-law, Ricky Kimzey, Allan English and Bill Cox; two sisters-in-law, Wanda English and Angie Nichols; five grandchildren, Tyler, Devin, Lucas, Grayson Lewis, and Emily Rogers; and two adopted children and their child, Todd, Stephanie and Larrah Beth Long.

The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at the Shinn Chapel, with the Rev. Chris Russell officiating. A private burial will be in Casa Cemetery under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

Honorary pallbearers are Ricky Kimzey, Joe McClain, Todd Long, Dan Bullock, Darryl Wiseman, and Allan English.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
