Helen Louise
Virden
Feb 9, 1930 — Feb 15, 2025
Kansas City
Helen Louise Virden, affectionately known by many as "Tucker," age 95, of Kansas City, Kansas, died Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Healthcare Resort of Kansas City. She was born February 9, 1930, to John Dennis and Vada Torix Smith.
She found her passion in crocheting, taking care of her animals and in her faith as a Christian.
Helen was truly a beautiful soul inside and out. Her laughter was infectious, and her joy in life was unmistakable. She had an incredible gift of seeing the best in people, a quality that made everyone who met her feel valued and cherished.
Family was at the heart of Helen's life, and she would do anything for a loved one in need. She had a natural ability to make each of us feel uniquely special and deeply loved. Whether it was a thoughtful gesture, a listening ear, or simply being there when we needed her most, Helen was a constant source of support and comfort.
One of her many wonderful traits was the way she greeted everyone—with a smile that could light up a room and a warm embrace that made us feel at home. She never let anyone leave her presence without a hug and a kiss, a gesture that reminded us of the depth of her affection and the warmth of her spirit. Through her actions, she taught us that the most powerful legacy you can leave behind is one of kindness, compassion, and unwavering love.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, L.D. Virden; and five brothers, Louis Smith, Lewell Smith, Charles Smith, Dale Smith and Bobby Joe Smith.
Survivors include a sister, Carol Sullivan; and a brother, Lonnie Smith.
The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Shinn Chapel with the Rev. Don Stiles officiating. Burial will be in Crossroads Cemetery in Deer under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
