James R. Wells, age 86, of Dover, died Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He was born June 17, 1937, in Dover, to George and Dora Ann Yow Wells.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant sons, Kerry Lynn and James Rufus Wells Jr. a grandson, Jake E. Wells; a brother, Freddie Wells; and three sisters, Marie Sanders, Wilma Rentfro and Kathy Brown.

He is survived by his loving wife, Louise Wells; two sons and daughter-in-law, James Randy and Cindy Wells, and Kevin Lee Wells; a daughter, Janice Sue McCann; a grandson, Jason Jackson; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, George Odell and Leigh Wells, and Carroll Gene and Nila Wells.

The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the Shinn Chapel, with the Rev. Bill Hampton and the Rev. Jackie Pledger officiating. Burial will be in Pollard Cemetery, under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., on Monday, at the funeral home.
