Joe Evan
Hottinger
Jun 15, 1933 — Jun 8, 2026
Dover
Joe Evan Hottinger, age 92, of Dover, passed away peacefully in the morning hours of June 8, 2026, in the same valley where his life's journey began on June 15, 1933. He was born to Claud E. Hottinger and Eula Lea Leavell.
Joe was a man whose presence could fill a room. He was known for his integrity, endless jokes, and remarkable ability to build life-long friendships. To many, he was more than a friend or relative—he was a father figure, mentor, and trusted source of wisdom. His kindness, humor, and willingness to help others left a lasting impact on countless lives.
After serving in the US Army, Joe went on to retire from a long career serving Firestone in Russellville. Throughout his career, he earned the respect of coworkers through an unmatched work ethic. Much like his legendary handshake-strong, firm, and unforgettable, Joe's character left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Outside of work, Joe took tremendous pride in his home and property. His yard was meticulously maintained and often described as looking more like a golf course than a residence. He believed in hard work, attention to detail, and taking pride in everything, he did. Joe's legacy lives on through the family he loved, the friends he cherished, and the many people whose lives were made brighter by his laughter, guidance, and example. Though he has left this earth, his precious memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen Faye Hottinger, with whom he shared 65 cherished years; eight siblings, Stella Louise Bewley, Evelyn Brooks, Garland Hottinger, Sybil Hunter, Harold Hottinger, Shelby Hottinger, Bobby Hottinger, and Mary Zelle McClendon.
He is survived by his 2 children, Randy (Sheri) Hottinger and Debra McGee; six grandchildren whom he loved dearly; Brad (Carolyn) Hottinger, Michael Hottinger, Jeff McGee, Jason (Whitley) McGee, Molly (Wes) Holliday, and Sydni (Kane) Guthrie; nine great grandchildren Carsyn Hottinger, Callie Hottinger, Brandon Hottinger, Maylee McGee, Baby McGee, Jake McGee, Kirsten McGee, Rylee Holliday, and Henry Holliday; and 3 great-great grandchildren Weston Hottinger, Easton Hottinger, and Taylani McGee.
A private burial will be in North New Hope Cemetery. Arrangements are by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the funeral home.
