Joe William "Jay" Heflin, age 80, of Dover, died Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at his home.  He was born August 25, 1942, in Gumlog, to Virgil Orlin and Lucille Davidson Heflin.

He attended Rehoboth Assembly of God and uncompromisingly preached the Gospel for over 40 years and was a truck driver for 33 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Melva Jean Estes, Retha Vangilder and an infant sister.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Mary Lou Heflin; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Danny  Knight of Ola, Randy and Sue Graham of Russellville, Jessie Graham of Ola and Dewayne and Shanna Dixon of London; a daughter, Nancy Duvall of South Carolina; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Crystal Heflin of Jerusalem; a sister, Lynda Moss of Atkins; six grandchildren, John Pratt, Cassie Pratt, Ashley Horn, Zachary Warren, Annie Swiney and Logan Dixon; and several great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023, at the Shinn Chapel with military honors provided by the United States Army and with the Rev. Jim Hatfield and the Rev. Roy Smith officiating.  Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery North of Atkins, under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time in the chapel.

Pallbearers will be Danny Knight, Logan Dixon, Rev. Kirk Orrell, Doug Heflin and Robert Heflin.
