John D. Thompson, age 81, of Dover, died Friday, October 23, 2026, at his home. He was born October 9, 1945, in Olathe, Colorado to Jay Cruver and Effie Elizabeth Brownfield Cruver.

He was a United States Navy veteran, where he received the Bronze Star Vietnam Service Medal. He worked for the VA hospital in Colorado, where he received The Outstanding Performance Award, The Industries Performance Award, and The Valley Health Care Performance Award. He was a valued employee of Shinn Funeral Service for ten years. He was a Jehovah’s Witness.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Thompson; and a daughter, Kimberly Noel Shilling of Gulf Port, Massachusetts.

Arrangements are private, under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
