Josiephine Nichols, age 93, of Russellville, passed from this life Thursday, December 10, 2020, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born March 5, 1927, in Russellville, to Charles Isaac and Elois Edwards Wilson.

At an early age, she wanted to be a missionary and throughout her life she strived to help people. She was a lifelong and very active member of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church and The Order of the Eastern Star. She began working at Tyson Foods Dardanelle in 1966. Under her 32 years of employment with Tyson, she also served as an Executive Board Member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, UFCW Local 425, where she led the efforts to improve the working conditions of her fellow employees.

Her sharp wit, quick sense of humor, warm heart and generous spirit will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Samuel and Paul Edward Wilson; two sisters, Ella Margaret Ross and Linda Lou Wilson; and a son, Charlie Roy Nichols.

She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Jr. and Lola, and George Michael Nichols; a daughter, Mae Gilbert; a sister, Wanda Lee Peevy; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

The graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 18, 2020, in Reed Cemetery in Russellville with the Rev. Tom Scott officiating, and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

An open visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m.

The family respectfully requests that masks be worn, social distancing be maintained, and close contact be kept to a minimum.
