Juan Robert
Standridge
May 1, 1963 — Dec 15, 2024
Dover
Juan Robert Standridge, son of Jon Waldo and Ona Mae Barnhouse Standridge, passed away December 15, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. His best friend, his papaw, Toy Standridge welcomed him home with open arms.
Robert was born May 1, 1963, in Russellville. He was a 1981 graduate of Dover High School and a 1986 graduate of Arkansas Tech University. After college he started working for Lowe's, moving to several cities and making lifelong friends before retiring due to health reasons.
Robert loved all sports and played football and basketball at Dover High. He was quite the athlete being a center at Dover High School then going on to letter his freshman year at Arkansas Tech as a holder.
Robert loved the Ozark mountains, often referring to them as "His Mountains." A close friend of Robert's said he knew every nook and cranny and instilled the love of the Ozarks within people he loved.
Robert loved taking friends and family on any and all dirt roads just to see what he could find. One of Robert's hobbies was genealogy. He traced his family back many generations and enjoyed finding interesting facts and connections about his relatives. He and Beth went to many, many cemeteries in Arkansas and Oklahoma, visiting dead relatives as he would say. Robert's love for music was like no other. Music brought him strength, good memories, and meaning in life.
In addition to his parents, Robert is survived by his companion, Beth Sommers of Morrilton; a brother, Gary (Charlene) Standridge of Elm Springs; a son, Kennady (Jamie) Standridge of New Jersey; Beth's children and grandchildren, who he claimed as his own, Emali Sommers of Morrilton, Dr. Meghan (Shane) Harrison of Nashville, Arleigh and Blakelee Harrison of Nashville; nieces, Jamie (Jeremy) Thomas of Bentonville and Lauren (Ramon Gochi) Standridge of Centerton; two great-nieces, Avery and Emery Thomas; and one great-nephew, Lane Gochi; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and millions of friends.
The family would like to thank each and every friend that helped so much, Anastasia Wilson, the brothers of Theta Chi fraternity who wrapped their arms around Robert and supported him through all endeavors, Mariel Park with Gentiva Hospice and their entire staff for the love and care Robert received.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
