Larry Don
Dane

Russellville
Larry Don Dane, age 85, of Russellville, died Sunday, August 2, 2026, at his home.
He was born on July 18, 1941, in Russellville to Earl Bledsoe and Mary Mildred McAnulty Dane. Larry was the firstborn and the only son of two children. He held deep pride in his roots, tracing his local heritage as the grandson of John Dane and great-grandson of Henry Frederick Dane of Bradley Cove, beneath Crow Mountain.
A standout athlete from a young age, Larry excelled in football, earning All-State honors while playing for the Russellville Cyclones. His talent on the field led to a recruitment by Arkansas Tech University, where he became an integral member of the 1961 undefeated regular season team going to the AIC Championship. In recognition of his athletic achievements, he is scheduled to be inducted into the Arkansas Tech University Football Hall of Fame in October 2026.
Throughout his professional life, Larry served his community through his work as an agent with Shelter Insurance and in various managerial and sales roles with International Harvester.
A devout man of Christian faith, Larry shared his love for God through music, singing in gospel quartets and church worship choirs throughout his life. Above all, he was a devoted family man. On August 4, 1963, Larry married the love of his life, Brenda Joyce Farrell, and together they built a life centered on love, faith, and enduring devotion.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Brenda Dane; his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Susan Dane of Little Rock; his daughter, Larenda Dane of Russellville; his five grandchildren including his cherished granddaughters, Dr. Lauren Frederick Todd (Dr. Andrew Todd) and Leah Frederick James (Eric James); and one great-grandson, Brooks James; his sister and brother-in-law, Janice and the Rev. Arlis Thrasher; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John David and Audra Farrell; as well as many extended family members and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 7, 2026, at the Shinn Chapel with the Rev. Arlis Thrasher and the Rev. Ed Huie officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
