Obituary

Margie Brannon, age 86, of Russellville, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 4, 1934, in Atkins, to Joe and Nola Tackett Hurley.

She was a member of the Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church, and had been a Sunday school teacher and secretary. She enjoyed bowling, and supporting all of her baby's activities. She and her first husband, Glen Eakin were part of the original Oak Grove Singers for 28 years, traveling and singing all over, and making records.

She married Dwight Brannon in 1993. They enjoyed traveling together, camping, fishing, singing, and meeting new people. Most of all, she loved God, and ALL of her "babies", as she called us. She enjoyed cooking for family, whatever the occasion, and was always so excited when Christmas came, and she had all her babies around. She would take them to the back bedroom and have her talk with the young ones. She was a trooper, and always prayed for her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Glen Eakin; three brothers, Burl and Geral Don Hurley, and an infant brother, Andy Lee Hurley; a sister, Lorraine Reed; a great-grandson, Braxton Huffman; two step-sons, Dwight Brannon Jr. and Mark Brannon; and a step-daughter, Christa Brannon.

She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Dwight Brannon; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Jackie Eakin of Pottsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Donita and Tim Huffman of Hector; five grandchildren, Terra and Jeremy Wilmoth of Russellville, Justin and Amanda Eakin of Dover, Matt and Heather Huffman, Gerrad Huffman of Hector, and Caileah Huffman of Hector; seven great-grandchildren, Kaden, Ashton, Cainnan, Rustyn Eakin, Addy Wilmoth, and Cole and Greyson Huffman; a step-son, Kevin Brannon of Oklahoma, a sister-in-law, Marilyn Hurley of Tilly; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church, in Atkins, with Bro. Johnny McCoy and Bro. James Chronister officiating. Burial will be in Hudson Cemetery, and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
