Obituary

Oleta (English) Baskin, age 95, of Casa, was received into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, Monday, January 13, 2025, at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville. She was born December 23, 1929, in Plainview, to Odell Reginald and Claudie Francis Compton English.

Oleta was the hands and feet of Jesus, a true example of a servant. She was a member and served in many roles at Casa Baptist Church for many years and was employed at Casa Schools, stepping into whatever job needed to be completed. Oleta enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, cooking delicious food for family and friends, and working outside in her flower garden. She sold Avon products for 41 years and now her daughter, Patti, carries on the legacy in honor of her mother. Most of her years were spent doing things for others, whether it be caring for numerous people, taking children shopping who didn't have much, sending a Bible to one of her students while he was in the armed services, which he still has to this day, or just being there for someone who needed her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W.D. Baskin; a daughter, Sandra Baugh; five brothers, Kenneth, George and Donald English and Robert and William Earl Tramel; and two sisters, June Mitchell and Bobbie Jo Ray.

Survivors include a daughter, Patti Baskin of Casa; a son-in-law, Bob Baugh of Raleigh, North Carolina; a sister, Brenda McCoy of Plainview; a sister-in-law, Virginia Tramel of Russellville; two grandchildren, Courtney Neighoff (Matt) of Raleigh, North Carolina and Matthew Baugh of St. Louis, Missouri; two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Eli Neighoff; and a special niece, Carolyn Lewis of Russellville.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Casa Baptist Church, with Bro. Gene Tanner officiating and Patricia Watts leading worship. Burial will be in Casa Cemetery under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the church.

Pallbearers are Matt, Cameron and Eli Neighoff, Bob Baugh, Josh Lewis and Arnie Burk.
