Obituary

Patricia (Pat) Anne Trumbauer Wiggins, age 96, died Monday, August 4, 2025, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born Feb 13, 1929, in Omaha, Nebraska to George Howard and Mary Elizabeth Lynch Trumbauer.

While out on a double date in high school, John Wiggins stole her away from her date, confident that he had met the girl he was going to marry. Not having much money, John would offer to take her out for a burger or go for a drive. Since you could get a burger anywhere, Pat would always take the adventure with John. They married in 1948 and continued their adventures around the world in support of John's illustrious career as a Chief Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force.

Together they had three children. As is typical for a military family, Pat served her country by upholding the household wherever they were stationed (Bermuda, Massachusetts, Alaska, Georgia, and more) while John was serving his missions. They would eventually settle in Vilonia, Arkansas. John retired with the military and went on to work for the USPS Post Office as a letter carrier while Pat continued her work as a homemaker and always ensured that everything was in tip-top shape.

Her grandchildren recall many fond memories with her, including trips to Little Rock Air Force Base where they visited the Exchange and perhaps Grandma could be cajoled to buy a toy to play with. They enjoyed waking up to French toast and hot syrup in the kitchen, cream cheese dip with all the fixings for lunch and a gourmet dinner served no later than 4PM (some military habits die hard). Spending time watching Grandma in the middle of her beauty routine, dozing off (or as she claimed resting her eyes) as she tried to stay up late with the grandkids watching movies.

Pat enjoyed staying active by walking, visiting flea markets, and perhaps as a by-product of moving so much she visited open houses to check out houses around town. She was as tough as they came and would endure several medical setbacks that she took in stride. Despite her toughness, she always demonstrated a deep love for her family. Even later in life, her eyes would light up when seeing her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, John Wiggins; a daughter-in-law, Marjorie Agosin Wiggins; a brother; and two sisters.

She is survived by her three children, John Wiggins of Wellesley, Massachusetts, Patricia Horton (Daniel) of Galena, Missouri and Mary Hoyt (William) of Russellville, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Joseph Wiggins of Los Angeles, California, Sonia Wiggins of Wellesley, Massachusetts, Michael Wilkinson of Sherwood, Arkansas, John Wilkinson (Olivia) of Saint James, New York, Andrew Hoyt (Andrea) of St. Louis, Missouri and Adrianne McNeely (William) of Russellville, Arkansas; 10 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

A family-conducted memorial service will be at 9:30 a.m., Friday, August 8, 2025, at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Atkins. Burial will be private with arrangements under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

We would like to thank Atkins Nursing and Rehabilitation, Gentiva Hospice and St. Mary's Regional Medical Center for the compassionate care she received.
