Patty Sue (Wilson) Sampler, age 72, of Kennesaw, Georgia, peacefully entered the presence of her Redeemer on the morning of Monday, January 17, 2022.
She was born June 29, 1949, in Arkadelphia, to Robert and Mildred Wilson.
Patty moved to Oklahoma at age 13. As a teenager, she worked as a candy striper at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. There she met the love of her life, Dean Sampler, after he was injured playing basketball and treated for a concussion. Dean and Patty married on June 21, 1968, and remained devoted to each other for the next 53 years as they parented their two sons and later doted on their 16 grandchildren.
Patty, also affectionately called Granny, loved horses, time with loved ones, and cooking old-fashioned dishes such as chocolate pie and chicken fried steak. Patty was a member of Hector First Baptist Church of Arkansas.
She and Dean had recently traveled to Kennesaw, Georgia, and were residing with their son Jason, enjoying time with family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Barry Wilson.
Patty is survived by her husband, Dean; her siblings, Larry (Jeri) Wilson of Fouke, Harry (Carolyn) Wilson of Sandy Hook, Mississippi, and Shirley Hardesty of Catoosa, Oklahoma.
She will be whole-heartedly missed by Dean; her sons, Jason (Terah) Sampler and Justin (Jessica) Sampler; as well as her grandchildren, Yiesha, Caterine, Carolina, Judson, Nicolas, D'Kyrie, Caleb, Terah, Leo, Louisa, Noah, Sarah, Hannah, Lydia, Eden, and Naomi.
A celebration of her homegoing will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Hector First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ira Taylor and Rev. Justin Sampler officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in Pisgah Cemetery under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 3:00-4:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
