Roy Lee Smith, age 95, of Russellville died Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at Legacy Heights Nursing Home.  He was born August 31, 1925, in Russellville to Roy and Vivian Wilson Smith.

He was a member of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church where he was a deacon since 1949 and Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He was an employee of Peoples Bank and Trust for 60 years.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Erma M. Landrum Smith.

Survivors include his daughter, Dr. V. Carole Smith of Russellville; a sister, Frances Smith Watson Stewart of Huntsville, Alabama; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

An open viewing will be held Sunday from 1:00 p.m., until 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

The graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 23, 2021, at Reed Cemetery with the Rev. Rita Richardson officiating under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church.

The family would like to thank Legacy Heights Nursing Home for the care Mr. Smith received, the First United Methodist Church Visiting Team and the Deacons from New Prospect Missionary Baptist who visited him.
