Steve Leavell, age 67, of Dover died Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at CHI St. Vincent in Little Rock. He was born February 22, 1955, in Russellville to Kirby Joe and Frances Kay Wait Leavell.

He was an elder for Gravel Hill Church of Christ and a preacher at Hagarville Church of Christ for over 40 years.  He worked for several local newspapers as a freelance reporter and for the Dover School District as an English teacher for over 35 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dan Leavell.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Liz Leavell of Dover; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Adam Leavell of Dover and Ben and Sara Leavell of Dardanelle; a daughter, Rachel Leavell of Dover; a sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Chad Easley of Dover; a sister-in-law, Sherrie Leavell of Dover; and three grandchildren, Talvin, Jackson and Harper Leavell.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 10, 2023, at Gravel Hill Church of Christ with Mr. David Wait officiating. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be James Leavell, Talvin Leavell, Jackson Leavell, Remy Easley, Michael Robbins and Randy Hollis.
