Obituary

William Jennings Loveless, known by all as Jennings, age 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the Russellville Nursing Center. He was born on March 7, 1935, to Henry and Ester Loveless, in Pope County, where he lived the majority of his life.

During his younger years, he proudly served as a paratrooper in the United States Army, stationed in North Carolina. After his time in the military, he returned home and built a life rooted in hard work, deep faith, and love for his family. He was a farmer through and through—raising cows, chickens, turkeys, and even worms—and he made his living as a skilled carpenter and millwright.

Known for his mischievous grin and playful spirit, Jennings was always ready with a joke, a trick, or a tale. He never missed a chance to stir up fun, especially around a game of Rook or a round of dominoes. He had a true talent for woodworking, with his cedar chests becoming cherished treasures in many homes. But his greatest joy came from spending time with his granddaughters—watching their games, cheering them on, and simply being present for all of life's little moments.

Jennings was a man of strong Baptist faith, a lover of southern gospel music, and a member of Crow Mountain Baptist Church. His faith, warmth, and light-hearted spirit touched everyone who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Bermell Powers; his brother, Arivell "Bud" Loveless; and two grandchildren, Channing and Brylee Barton.

Jennings is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Nina Loveless; his daughters, Regayla Loveless and Traci (Stacy) Barton; two granddaughters, Brady Barton and Brenlee (Zackary) Kitterman; and three sisters, Jewell (Don) White, Dana Wigington, and Lorene (Tommy) McGuire.

A celebration of Jennings' life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Crow Mountain Baptist Church, with a dessert and coffee reception to follow in the fellowship hall. He will be laid to rest at Shiloh Cemetery in Atkins, under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Though he may be gone from our sight, the love, laughter, and legacy of Jennings Loveless will continue to live on in all who were lucky enough to know him.
